School Contributions
2010
Year 7 2010 to Year 12 2010
With the agreement and support of the Mackellar P & C Association the school seeks financial contributions from all parents and guardians in order to be able to provide the wide range and high quality of educational programs to which the Mackellar community is accustomed. The strong support the school has enjoyed over the years and the reputation it has gained in the community are due in considerable measure to opportunities available to students within the curriculum itself, the student welfare program and in extra curricular activities. To be able to offer these opportunities incurs a large annual cost tot he school, which it seeks to defray through annual Government funding, parent contributions, P & C and other fundraising and sponsorship ventures. Funding from all these sources is essential in assisting us to cover all our expenses for the coming year.
The school is relying on the financial support of all parents in order to be able to maintain all current programs. Parents experiencing financial hardship are welcome to write to the Principal in confidence to outline the situation and to seek assistance in the form of payment by instalment, support for fees and/or uniforms, exemptions or perhaps to organise alternative ways of supporting the school e.g. canteen duty, participating in working bees, etc. No embarrassment or discrimination will occur in our school as a result of non-payment of the General School Contribution.
Funds raised are being expended upon the following:
- the purchase of books for class use
- the upgrading of technological equipment (handycam digital cameras, editing equipment, computers in classrooms, laptop computers, sound & lighting equipment, digital cameras, data loggers)
- enhancing sport opportunities (equipment, uniforms, competition entrance fees, ground hire, etc)
- purchase and maintenance of music equipment, music scores, etc
- the maintenance of high standard learning environments (eg kitchens, computer rooms, textile & design rooms, science laboratories, visual art rooms, performance space, practice firm)
- the production of suitable teaching/learning materials which cater for the girls individual differences and different learning styles
- resourcing of new syllabuses
Subject contributions, however, cover subject costs incurred by your daughter, and must be paid if your daughter has chosen a particular elective. Again, arrangements can be made to pay these off in instalments or seek financial assistance.
P & C Association Fundraising Donation
In order to spread the P & C fundraising load as evenly and fairly as possible and as an alternative to some of our more traditional fundraising activities the P & C is requesting a donation from each family to assist in raising funds for school projects, and for the purchase of additional computer hardware and software for student use. These donations will be collected by the school (with the School Contributions) and transferred to P & C funds.
The P & C Grounds Maintenance Levy
The P & C grounds maintenance levy helps to minimise the necessity for parent working bees which help keep the grounds looking attractive.
Library Fund
The tax deductible Libraray Fund enables parents to claim any contribution to this fund as a tax deduction. Money donated to this fund is used for library books, technology and resources.
