Uniform

The school community (parents, students and staff) have agreed that Mackellar girls wear a school uniform. The school community believes that the wearing of a uniform reflects the individual's commitment to the school. The girls are expected to be in FULL school or FULL sport uniform at all times.

Due to Occupational, Health and Safety requirements (OH&S), students are required to wear enclosed, lace up, hard leather shoes at all times. Students not wearing these shoes may be excluded from practical classes (such as Science, Visual Arts, Photography, Design and Technology, Food Technology, Hospitality, Textiles and Design and Retail) where materials like chemicals, boiling water, melted wax, sharp implements or electrical tools may be in use.

All Mackellar uniform items, with the exception of shoes, are available exclusively through the school's Uniform Shop located in A block, next to the school office. Opening hours for the Uniform shop are as per Opening Hours document attached below. Extra hours (including weekends) at the beginning of the year, at the change over from summer to winter uniform, and at the end of the year. Any changes to opening times will be notified in the School Newsletter.

For more information, see the P&C Website.

If Out of Uniform for the Day

If, for any reason, your daughter cannot come to school in full uniform (including shoes), she should bring a note from home stating the reason for being out of uniform. She must report to the Deputies office where she will be given an out of uniform note. If she does not have a note for being out of uniform more than twice, she will receive a detention.

NOTE: If there are financial reasons preventing your daughter from being in full uniform please let the school know in a confidential letter to the Principal.
