Mentor Program

Mackellar Girls Campus provides mentoring opportunities at all stages of the girls education.

In Year 7, the girls have 2 periods of Mentor integrated into their Curriculum. These lessons are taken by the 2 Year Advisors and the girls learn how to study and how to achieve successfully in secondary school. This time is also valuable for the Year Advisors and the students to get to know each other. Each term is divided into study areas.

Term 1 - 'You Can Do It' - time management, decision making, study techniques, library, goal setting, self esteem, self confidence, etc

Term 2 - 'You Can Succeed (at school) - literacy based skills, blooms taxonomy, ELLA review, etc

Term 3 - 'You Can Solve It' - numeracy based skills, SNAP review, etc

Term 4 - 'You Can Understand Others' - community awareness, disability awareness, relationships, resilience, etc

Year 8 have 1 period of Mentor integrated into their Curriculum. This helps the girls to transition from year 7 to year 8 and also prepares them for year 9 and the school certificate.

In Years 9 - 12, mentor becomes more one-on-one. For the elite performers, they have a teacher mentor, and for other students, we have a program called 'Re-Direct' where the student chooses their teacher mentor.
